10 Random Fun Facts

It’s Friday (well, it might not be when this is being read but it is when it was written and published) and as something a little fun and different, how about some random fun facts?

Netflix

Netflix almost had a goat bleating rather than the now iconic ‘ta-dum’ sound. The idea was that it would be a parody of the lion roaring that MGM does.

Tmnt

Speaking of Netflix, one of its most popular shows is Daredevil. Did you know though that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) was originally intended as a parody to Marvel’s Daredevil; the first Ninja Turtle comic originally had a scene that implied the same ooze that made Matt Murdock blind is what mutated the turtles. In fact, the heroes in a half shell’s villain the Foot Clan are even named in parallel to Daredevil’s The Hand.

Snes-cd

The PlayStation wasn’t originally its own console, it actually started as an expansion to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES); it was intended to be the SNES-CD. When the project fell apart, Sony decided to pursue videogame market themselves rather than let all that time and effort go to waste.

Obama

In the 2008 presidential elections, Barack Obama purchased ad space in 18 videogames popular with the 18-34 demographic.

Sonic the Hedgehog

A gene and protein that determines you have two eyes is called Sonic the Hedgehog aka SHH; but it was inspired by the comic rather than the videogame (due to it being spikey).

Sponge

Most animals are symmetrical; however, sponges are not.

Sharks

Female sharks have thicker skins than males, it is believed this is because the males tend to bite.

Chalk

Chalk is made from trillions of teeny fossils.

Amazon

20% of Earth’s entire oxygen is produced by the Amazon rainforest.

Venus

The only two planets in our solar system that don’t have moons are Venus and Mercury.
