Happy New Year from The Busy Papa
Happy new year! It’s that time again, or rather it was almost a couple of weeks ago. I opted to take the first week (and part of last week) off work to focus on myself, my partner Katie and the kids. It was a good move. A healthy one. 2020 has barely started and I am already in a strong, happy place and already have some amazing unforgettable memories.
That isn’t to say there hasn’t already been challenges. The kitchen flooding last week was hardly welcome and came after an already stressful day. However, one bad thing does not undo a good thing, or even a hundred good things. It is difficult to remember that sometimes as emotions aren’t governed by logic. It is true though and shouldn’t be forgotten.
2019 was an amazing year for me. I saw Bon Jovi live at Wembley and Foo Fighters at Reading. I Visited new places. Had new experiences. I wrote, read and came to many positive realisations about my place in the world and achieved acceptance for who I am and why I never found a place within our culture. All of these are amazing life goals fulfilled, but compared to finding happiness, true happiness, actual belonging and deep meaningful understanding they’re nothing. Of course, there were hard times. The year had its challenges. In the end though, these have been lessons on how to live better and not a taints on the positive experiences.
The prelude to the decade is over. 2019 has passed and 2020 is upon us. I don’t claim to know the future but I know at least part of what comes next. We continue to build on the successes of last year and forge a lasting future. We be defined by the good and learn from the bad – fixate on the healthy and move on when not. A healthy, united mindset to a journey of twists and turns but never alone. No premeditated plan or goals, just lives lived in the best possible way.
