How Difficult Is It To Make A Car More Comfortable?

Posted on 12/11/2025 by The Busy Papa
Do you have a comfort-related issue with your car? Does it feel a bit more awkward or achy to drive than you think it really should?

You wouldn’t be the first person to turn your vehicle off, get out of the car, and immediately grab your back where pain has suddenly kicked in! Vehicle cockpits aren’t exactly the most comfortable places to be, even in modern cars designed to be more ergonomic for road users.

But is it difficult to make your driver’s seat a bit more comfortable and user friendly for you? We don’t think so! If you want your car to be more comfortable, here are a few modifications to consider.

Start with the Driver’s Seat

Of course, the first place to target is your seat itself. What’s making it so uncomfortable for you to use, even on shorter drives of only 20 to 30 minutes?

Start by adjusting the seat, in terms of both how straight the support is, and how far off the ground you need to be.

If you’re constantly straining to see the road, the seat needs to be cranked a bit higher. If you’re coming away with lower back pain, you’re likely crunching as you drive, and need to align the recliner to be more vertical.

Then think about what you’re using, other than the wheel, pedals, and gearstick. Buttons for the dash on the wrong side, so you have to reach across? Find a new apple carplay screen with easy-reach buttons and touch screen to replace it.

Relying on a GPS to navigate? Don’t keep looking down. Get a phone or GPS holder to stick onto the windshield at your eye height. These are simple and easy modifications that make a big difference!

Are Your Tires Right?

Is there enough pressure in them? That’s the first thing to check. You should also regularly do quick visual inspections to look for worn areas, or even small puncture wounds that are letting the air out bit by bit.

You should also think about replacing the tires with another type. If your tires are on the smaller side, drives can be a bit more bumpy, and feel unwieldy to handle as the driver. Investing in a new set that’s a bit bigger could make your time behind the wheel a lot more smooth!

Keep it Clean

A clean car makes for a very happy space. You don’t want to get into your car and have to clean off junk, trash, and crumbs that are everywhere. Remove waste every time you get out of the car, and try to vacuum it out at least once a month.

And remember, a good air freshener is a mood booster, so you might just find those frustrating driving moments a bit less taxing.

It doesn’t have to be difficult to make a car a bit more comfortable. Make some small and easy changes first, and then think about replacing your tires or your car’s dashboard.
