Want A Side Gig You Can Do Raising Your Kids

Parenting takes a lot of time and focus, and when it comes to stay at home parenting there are unique risks in that the lifestyle can become an all-encompassing part of you. Whilst there is nothing wrong with that, you might find yourself wanting a side gig of some kind that you can fit around your day-to-day life and raising the kids.

Why Stay-At-Home Parents Should Try A Side Gig

You might be wondering why you should try a side gig. Perhaps the most notable is that you can spend most of your day with your kids. If you’re their primary caregiver, then that might be mandatory. Having a side gig lets you keep that routine while also earning money.  Since you can plan your side gig around your family life, it shouldn’t interfere with your current schedule. That gives you the perfect balance between work and life, regardless of whether you prefer more personal life or work time.

Side Gigs Any Stay-At-Home Parent Can Try

Legal Translation Services

Many companies need to translate their legal documents. While many larger firms will have an in-house team responsible for this, many smaller ones don’t. That’s where freelance legal translation services come in.

If you can read, write, and speak a second language to a native standard, then this could be a valid career path. If you know more than two languages, then you could find yourself even more work. While the pay might start off relatively low, it climbs much higher once you have some experience under your belt.

Some languages are more in-demand than others, so it could be worth brushing up on them.

Programmer

Most people don’t know much about putting together a website or any other kind of software. These are typically put together by either a lone programmer or group of them, depending on the size of the website. Programmers are responsible for writing the code that makes software function.

If you know how to code, then you shouldn’t have much of an issue finding work. Small websites want their websites developed and can’t afford full-time workers. Targeting them with a programming side gig could be more than enough to make a living with.

There are multiple coding languages you can learn, such as PHP, although it’s recommended you learn a few of them.

Copywriter

Copywriting has been one of the more popular freelancing positions for years. That could make it an appropriate option for a side gig. Wordsmiths and those willing to learn can excel in the field, especially considering the number of potential clients that you can find.

There’s quite a lot of competition, however, so you’ll need to hone your craft to complete. Targeting specific industries is recommended, as some pay better than others. If you’re looking for inspiration, draw on your own life. You could, for example, focus on parenting and work with clients in that niche only.

Voice Over Acting

While you’ll need to pick up some equipment and create a dedicated space to record, a career in voice acting could be a recommended one. If you can do impressions or change your voice or accent relatively easily, then this could be the side gig for you.

One of the positive aspects of this is that you can try out voices with your children. Thankfully, there are multiple avenues for you to explore as a voice over actor. Commercials are needed for the likes of video games, movies, television shows, and documentaries.

Should you do well with the job, you could eventually move to voice acting full-time.

Wrapping Up

Many stay-at-home parents wish they could earn some extra money at home. With each of the above, you should be able to. The time effort they take can vary from one to another, although you can schedule your time out properly.

The more you put in, the more you get out. That should mean that you can plan out your work life based on your family life. Between spending as much time as you want with your partner and kids and making some extra money, there’s almost nothing to like about each of the above side gigs.
