5 Reasons Why Eco-Savvy Shoppers Should Buy in Bulk
A lot has been said about the benefits of shopping in bulk over the last few years and it is already common knowledge that buying in larger quantities allow for bigger savings; in fact, bulk buying is efficient economically as well as ecologically. Here are a few reasons why eco-savvy shoppers should try to buy in bulk.
Time and Effort
Whether in-store, or online; grocery shopping is immensely time consuming. The more shops household, the more time spent checking stock-levels, shopping itself and putting away.
So, if an item is in frequent use and needs to be replenished often; stocking up can guarantee that time and effort are spent more constructively which will reduce the frequency of last-minute purchases and lower your household’s carbon footprint.
Money
Although the initial investment is higher, over time, more money is saved. Over a few months or a year for example, the amount can be quite shocking.
Larger storage comes with less material and reduced costs. There are also less trips out, or less delivery charges that are a factor to consider too. So, overall; a much better value proposition.
Less Packaging
Yes, less packaging means less spend but it also means less waste. In fact, it means less packaging being thrown away by the home but also less being produced in the first place. Bulk buying promotes positive waste practices at all levels of the process. Plus, less plastic bags too!
When you consider that the stunning amount of waste at landfill that comes from packaging, or worse still our oceans the benefits of reduced packaging should speak for themselves. After all, less waste in the ocean is better for us, for wildlife and also means less resources used in global clean-up ops required to undo or mitigate the damage done.
Less Time in Transit
The less time your products spend in transport, the better. Bigger packets of products mean less overall journeys. Fewer trips mean a reduction in the energy and fossil fuel use of getting the products from location to location.
Higher Stock Turnover
What does this mean for the consumer? Well, in bulk buy stores, customers buy more products which means that fewer old products get left unsold. This leads to less waste from the shop itself and generally increased chances of fresher goods.
