Mind Has Launched an Emergency Appeal

Mind Has Launched an Emergency Appeal

The charity Mind has launched an emergency appeal in the hope of protecting, supporting and saving lives during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This is no surprise; in a time of great change, upheaval and bad news of course a mental health crisis will follow. None the less, this is sad to hear and I urge anyone who can and is able in doing what they can to aid the charity’s latest campaign.

When you go to their site’s story section, it is full of heart-wrenching tales of confusion, upset and uncertainty in the face of COVID-19 (and beyond). There are personal anecdotes from teenagers, men, women, doctors, nurses, carers and charity workers all suffering from their mental health. Not one of us needs a reminder of how difficult things are but it is made all the more clear.

Mind makes clear that they are worried about coronavirus and how it will and is affecting people the world. That they are there to support and ensure that the mental health issues fostered by the current situation aren’t left to escalate but are met with the appropriate response for those who need it. By raising awareness, funding appropriate channels and offering advice and guidance; the mental health charity is going all it can to do just that.

Mind’s information hub is a vital resource in maintaining a sense of wellbeing if you are struggling. It offers practical advice for all sorts of things such as:

  • Staying home.
  • Personal wellbeing.
  • Guidance for employers.
  • Guidance for staff.
  • Regularly updated information on laws and rights brought in due to COVID-19

All this is just for starters. As you might expect, there is also their pre-existing advice and their email, text, telephone and even post helplines for all who need it.

Now, more than ever charities like Mind need people to do what they can to help. Whether it is through donation, awareness or support, it all helps. What can you do?

I’m glad they are launching this campaign as there are lot of people who would be struggling at the moment. Mental health is really important, and sturggling with anxiety myself I know how important this help can be.

So many people reaching out but so many suffering in silence – so important to support
