Sharing Moments and Making Memories

Sharing Moments and Making Memories

I’m a little behind. Whilst all the other bloggers have been posting gift ideas, places to be and running competitions for the day. I have not but I have no reason to not join in on the fun and put my own content out there. The reason I haven’t is because when it comes to having things to say or share; I have plenty of other content to get off my chest. To me, love and valentine’s day is about sharing moments and making memories.

I’m not deliberately making a stand. It is true of course that Valentine’s Day is overly commercialised and sends the completely wrong message about love; I do believe that. However, I don’t think that it should be boycotted or those who enjoy it are doing anything wrong. None of this is really on my mind or driving what I do or don’t put out there for the day.

I have to work, blogging is that (among other things) but writing about what trinket or other you could get your partner isn’t the best use of my time at the moment, as so many are doing it better. It also does not reflect the sort of relationship I have with my own partner.

The truth is, our time in this world is limited and you only have a finite amount of time to make memories or get lost in those perfect moments. Katie and I value the things we get each other, sure. What we value more is the time and experiences we share; not extravagance or consumption. What’s more, is whether it is valentines day, a random day in July or any other day of the year; this is unchanging.

What I am saying is that I can’t tell you what fancy fancy jewelry, clothing, perfume or chocolate to get your partner this year; I don’t know. The thing I can tell you though is to give each other your time, be invested in the moment and make some memories. Whether it’s valentines or any other day.

* Disclosure: this is a collaborative post; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
