Poem: Damned Expectation

Posted on 21/03/201921/01/2021 by The Busy Papa

Damned Expectation

The dark recess of a tormented soul,
Ached for just a touch of her attention,
But pain of the flesh had taken its toll,
Deprived of any maternal affection.

The child was never one to suckle of long,
As she would not offer such things lightly,
With angst she’d scream out a “poor mother’s song”
And preach of the child as unsightly.

To be the boy to her equal damnation –
Unconditional came with conditions.
Becoming like her the apparent salvation –
His free will to be little more than inhibition.
